When we are on vacation especially on other places, we can’t help but taste their local food and enjoy cuisines on local restaurants. Sometimes we are occupied with the delicious tastes and enticing aroma that we tend to forget about food allergies. Here are some helpful travel tips regarding food allergies.

Beforehand be sure to do some research. Read on your destination’s background like weather, topography and also know their health stores and restaurants. Know what food they usually eat and what ingredients are usually added to their local food.

When your destinations is hours away be sure to take some food with you. In this way you can avoid buying food on fast food restaurants or foods you find in the road side. Bring a cooler to let your food stay fresh along the way.

In case of emergency, be sure you have your list of emergency numbers. Get your doctor’s number, the number of local hospitals and emergency clinics in the area. Always be sure you packed your medicines, have a check list and pack more than enough of what you think you need.

If you are staying in a hotel or an inn, check if the pillows are hypoallergenic. Best of all you can bring your own travel pillow to save your from feather bed situations, dusty train headrests, and less than sanitary hotel rooms.

When eating out, you can present allergy cards. Chef cards clearly label your allergies, these are great for traveling abroad or eating in ethnic restaurants.
